A journey that started about six weeks ago, precisely Monday, 9th July 2018, has finally come to an end. I can proudly say it was worth it. I won’t say it was an all rosy journey but so far it has been an awesome experience and eye opener.

Week One started with a great introduction into what design is and is not, the fundamentals of design and design thinking process. Also we were introduced into areas/specializations of design which include UI, UX, industrial design, graphic design, etc. Still in week one, we were taught Seeing Design. Things to look out for when reviewing (seeing) a design. You need a design eye to design, a non-designer eye to feel what you designed.

See with one eye, feel with the other. -Paul Klee

In all, week one was about getting comfortable with design.

By Week Two we were introduced into Visual Hierarchy. Where I learnt about the Gestalt’s principles and we were asked to do an exercise on that.

Then… Week Three came and the main project began with Layout and Composition. We were taught on using grids for design, the importance of sketches for web design and we were asked to create a wireframe for a restaurant. This was where my mind opened up to UI/UX with the figma tool.

Lol, picture showing me trying to sketch a wireframe for my restaurant.

Moving on to Week Four. Which was an Introduction to Typography. The difference between fonts and typefaces, concepts in typography such as kerning, tracking and leading was taught. And we were asked to flesh out the wireframe with typography.

Week 5 came, oh my… The end was getting near. In this week, we moved on to Color and adding images to design. We were made to understand the concepts of color, how to create a color scheme and psychology/significance of color. And as you would have guessed, we were asked to flesh out our wireframe with colors and images…

And Week Six came, and Yes! Oh! Yes! I made it. Well, week six was about finalizing the project and presenting it on Instagram and also writing about the design experience which you are reading.

Here’s my final project. 🤗

After all said and done, I can say the experience was great. I mean I’m not a great expert yet but I’ve made a considerable progress. It has made me sit up to some things I took for granted before. Opened me to a great deal of things concerning design. I’m glad I did this training.

Enthusiastic/Interested in design? Why not look our for the next training by Henry . You’d be glad you did😊.

At this junction, I Sign Out.

Peace out🤗.

Have a pleasant weekend.
